Toshiba is also a good in the laptop/ulrabook market and they are also made some nice laptops/ultrabooks and they are making a good brand name in the market where the major brands are dominating.Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 laptop, as its model number suggests, is touted for its 3D capabilities. It isn't the prettiest laptop I've ever seen, and some aspects of its design (namely its keyboard, its touchpad, and the bright LEDs all over the place) could use some work, but it's a solid performer and it displays 3D very well. Our review model, priced at $1200 (as of October 10, 2011), comes with a second-generation Intel Core i5 processor, a discrete Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics card, and 6GB of RAM (upgradable to 16GB). It also has a 750GB hard drive that spins at 5400 rpm, as well as a Blu-ray Disc player and a built-in webcam and microphone. The 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium is preinstalled. The gloss-black, Chiclet-style keyboard is evenly spaced and comfortable. A dedicated number pad sits off to the right, and a row of white, backlit buttons spans the top of the deck, above the function keys. In addition to power, Wi-Fi, and volume-control buttons (including a mute key), Toshiba included a play/pause button, a button that toggles between 2D and 3D viewing mode, and a button that launches the Toshiba Eco utility. The touch pad has a textured finish similar to the lid’s Fusion finish. It provides just the right amount of friction for pinpoint-accurate cursor control. The responsive dual mouse buttons are slightly higher than the touch-pad surface and emit a faint click when pressed. P755 includes a reasonable number of ports for a modern multimedia machine. This notebook includes a single USB 3.0 SuperSpeed port, three additional USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and a memory card reader. Although an ExpressCard expansion slot would have been a welcome addition, fewer 15-inch notebooks include them today.Satellite P755-3DV20 has a bright, glossy, 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen with a native resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. That’s a bit low for this screen size. Colors--especially skin tones--look good, but can sometimes end up washed out if you have the screen set to the highest brightness. The glossy surface also throws back a lot of reflections. Viewing angles are good, and sometimes even better than head-on viewing if the brightness is dialed up.Basic multimedia playback on the Satellite P755-3DV20 is excellent. HD streaming looks especially attractive, with no artifacting or noise that I can see. Audio is also good, and much louder than on most laptops. The speakers are easily robust enough to fill a large room. As the loudness grows, however, sound quality decreases; at full volume, the audio is a little thin. The optical drive in this configuration of the P755 is a Blu-ray player and DVD burner that is, of course, also compatible with 3D Blu-ray movies. The Nvidia 3D Vision system works very well in terms of delivering a quality 3D experience. The 3D effect is created by use of the screen's 120Hz refresh rate and the active shutter 3D glasses which flicker on and off dozens of times a second (faster than can be detected with the human eye) which are synchronized with the frame rate output from a movie or game using the IR emitter built into the screen bezel. The flickering is in time with the alternating left/right monitor output so that the left and right eye only see the appropriate image, thus creating the illusion of 3D.Games automatically convert to 3D once you've enabled 3D in a buried Nvidia control panel. After that, it's smooth sailing. It's great that so many older games work effortlessly with 3D, and the 3D looks colorful and sharp, although the screen brightness suffers considerably. We couldn't get 3D movies on YouTube to play because the current drivers weren't available yet for our Satellite model. That being said, Nvidia 3D Vision with glasses currently remains the best way to get 3D on a laptop, and we'd strongly recommend it over other options, including glasses-free, for now.The included Webcam has a maximum resolution of 1,280x1024 pixels. Videos shot at resolutions above VGA looked choppy, and the Toshiba Webcam settings are on the generic side.Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 definitely has a good set of features for a 15-inch laptop: Nvidia graphics, Nvidia 3D Vision, Blu-ray, and a fast processor offer a lot for the money, but you have to ask yourself whether you're buying a 3D laptop for immersive home entertainment and gaming, or looking for a mainstream, everyday laptop with 3D as a bonus feature.Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 is nice step from Toshiba in the laptops/ultrabooks market as they are looking to be serious for top ranking in the market.
