Dell XPS 14z Review + BenchMarks

Dell is a well-known brand in the laptop market because of their quality laptops. Dell has been 2nd best brand in the market 2nd to HP sine 7-8 years but nowadays market is changing very fast as new technologies are coming-in day after day and ACER and ASUS become very popular and some one says that ACER is going at the top today. Dell introduces its XPS series which perform exceptionally well and stylish design. Today we take a look at Dell XPS 14z.you'll spot what is probably the Dell's real achilles heel - its screen. The 1366 x 768 resolution is meagre in comparison to other models - the XPS 15z we tested had 1920 x 1080 resolution - but definition is reasonably sharp and clear.
The colours look washed out, but it’s the glare from the glossy display that really irritated us. Reflective screens do not equate to comfortable use in most normal lighting conditions.
But we did appreciate how it takes up almost the whole width of the chassis, so you're not left with a wastefully wide bezel. XPS 14's design, making it sleeker and less clunky looking than the previous Dell XPS 14z , which had large speaker grilles flanking and clashing with the contrasting silver-colored keyboard. The new system's chiclet-style black keyboard with concave keys matches the dark gray surrounding bezel better. An aluminum ring surrounds the system, highlighting its I/O ports. The new touchpad is now made of a glass surface, with integrated left and right mouse buttons. Using the new touchpad with two-finger swipes to scroll was smooth and not "grabby" like it is on some touchpads. The keyboard is backlit, as you would expect from Dell XPS.XPS 14z packs an acceptable array of input/output ports including mini-DisplayPort, HDMI, USB 3.0, and a slot-load DVD burner. I would prefer to see a standard size DisplayPort rather than the mini version which requires an adapter. There are only two USB ports on the whole notebook and just one of those is USB 3.0. I do however like how most of the ports are located on the back of the notebook; too often notebook designers cluster them on the sides and impede using an external mouse.Dell XPS 14 stayed relatively cool throughout our testing. After streaming a full screen video for 15 minutes, we measured the keyboard at a reasonable 90 degrees and the touchpad at an icy 80 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the underside got a little warm at 98 degrees. We consider temperatures below 95 comfortable,The speakers are loud, the sound quality's pretty tinny. Not just tinny -- after all, most laptops are -- but also buzzy and distorted, especially at the max volume. Though the XPS 14z is marketed as a premium system, the audio is mediocre at best.makes up for in relatively long battery life. Under the best circumstances, Dell promises up to six hours and 42 minutes of juice. But that's for the US market, specifically. In China, Dell's promising six hours and 58 minutes of runtime. According to the footnotes in the guide that Dell sends to reviewers, it used our configuration with a Core i7 processor and 8GB of RAM to arrive at that estimate for the US market. Projected battery life for the Chinese market is based on tests with a machine that had a Core i5 but in our test Dell XPS 14z's battery lasted for 432 minutes i.e 7+ hours....Thats very good and brillient battery performance as we were expecting from Dell XPS series.
