Processor market has been developed into a gold mine and every one want to be a gold miner and Intel does that fine, they almost out class the AMD out of the competetion, sorry to AMD fans but that is a pure truth. Intel Core processor have become a choice of < 90% users. Today we are going to review another real buldozer from Intel...Yes its i7 3970x Extreme Edition CPU.
Core i7 3970x has a greater clock speed than i7 3960x and its TDP is also greater than 3960x's TDP.Intel has make a mile stone when they launch their x79 based LGA 2011 socket CPUs and they out class every thing which was in the market at that time.Intel is clearly interested in continuing with LGA 2011. This platform doesn’t just exist, but evolves rapidly. For instance, they continuously launch new processors for it, and not only when the new microarchitecture comes out. Even mainstream systems cannot boast frequent line-up refreshes like that these days, and LGA 2011 has it all. They purposefully maintain the same traditional system of values, requiring the manufacturer to show love for their users from time to time. One of the refreshes like that is the reason for our today’s review. Intel decided to reward their enthusiastic fans favor high-performance systems and launched a new LGA 2011 processor – Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition that replaces the previous flagship CPU – Core i7-3960X, which latest in this leading role for a year. However, the new Core i7-3970X launched in a very old-fashioned manner, because in reality it is none other but a legally overclocked previous CPU model. This “new” CPU has not only the same core microarchitecture and manufacturing process, but also the same processor revision of the semiconductor die. In fact, there is no way to really increase the frequency potential of this processor that is why higher clock speed leads to higher heat dissipation and higher TDP. However, the major target group for this type of products, which typically utilizes high-end cooling solutions, will hardly be upset about it.The cheapest LGA2011 processor that makes sense is Core i7-3930K. It has no counterparts but costs a solid $600, staying above the middle range. Both Core i7-3930K and extreme Core i7-3960X remained the most powerful desktop solutions until i7 3970x was released a week ago and now that people has a new top performer CPU that available in the price of about $1065-$1075 range.
Main Difference b/t 3960x and 3970x:
Now take a look at BenchMarks Result.
Core i7 3960x was the top of the town by performance but now 3970x is in the market and the difference b/t these tow beasts is of TDP of 20 Watts ,200Mhz clock and 100 Mhz Trubo clock. This difference make a difference in the performance but if would be a user who has money and want the best and think before buying than i would not replace my 3960x with 3970x. The difference is not good enough to but a $1070 CPU again but if you want the best, money does not matters for u than get the 3970x, yes its the biggest beast available in the market till the IvyBridge Extreme processor launch in 2013.
- Excellent Performance.
- Enthusiasts Choice.
- Solid Memory Read/Write Performance.
- Best Latency rate.
- Almost at same price on which 3960x was launch.
- Improved PCIe LAN and RAM support.
- Expensive.
