We have talked much about the IvyBridge CPUs of Intel and now they had launched their new generation of CPU to make full domination in the market. The SandyBridge and the IvyBridge CPUs made great money for Intel and also users are much pleased with the performance of the last two generations. The Core i7 2600k and i7 3770k are the most famous and sold CPUs of both previous generations so Intel go the their base CPU at the first by launching Core i7 4770k which was expected to be of caliber of i7 2600k and i7 3770k. The new generation is known as Haswell is seems to be near to the Intel mobile processors as Intel is going into the mobile phone CPU market and Intel will compete with the ARM and Scorpion so let take a look at the Core i7 4770k.
Intel Core i7 4770k is more solid regarding the performance of integrated Intel HD graphics 4600 and this will help the manufacturers of to build low price notebooks for the users are all the Haswell CPU will be better iGPU performer. The Intel Core i7 4770k has same 4 Cores and (Hyper threading) 8 Threads as i7 2600k and i7 3770k has and it also has the overclocking ability which is claimed to be more than i7 3770k. The Intel is seems to be more concentrated on overall CPU+iGPU performance. The Intel Core i7 4770k easily runs on 3.5 GHz clock speed and it auto overclock to 3.9 GHz when needed. The Intel Core i7 4770k 8MB of cache which is equal to i7 3770k. The Intel Core i7 4770k is based on new 22nm manufacturing process.
The Intel is seems to be focused on the power efficiency than the performance so you can see that in benchmarks. The variety of products, which are currently being prepared for release after the Haswell microarchitecture launch, indicate clearly that Intel’s priorities have changed dramatically. Therefore, there is a good reason for why we didn’t see much progress in the new Haswell CPUs. Intel currently has no need or real interest in advancing the existing desktop platforms.. The performance difference of Intel Core i7 4770k Vs. Core i7 3770k is not enough in my opinion to upgrade my gaming i7 3770k system to new Haswell 4770k. The main thing to discuss is that you have to change motherboard as well for upgrading as this Haswell CPU is based upon Z87 and socket 1150 which is not the same as sockets of SandyBridge 2600k and i7 3770k was same so keep that thing in mind too. The Intel Core i7 4770k has improved memory controller and it is expected to be possible overclock memory more. Let’s take a look at benchmarks.
The Intel Core i7 4770k is a great CPU if you do not already have 3770k. The Intel Core i7 4770k is better iGPU performer than the previous 3770k. The Intel HD 4600 are much better than HD 4000 but still not a replacement for dedicated GPU if you are a gamer. The Intel Core i7 4770k has improved performance but to be honest it not enough for me to upgrade my existing 3770k gaming PC with this new Intel Haswell 4rh gen CPU and a new z87 motherboard. The power consumption in our tests were more than 3770k setup which has pretty much same components except z77 motherboard. If you want the best and faster quad core CPU with better iGPU performance and you do not own 3770k already than Intel Core i7 4770k is the best option to make.
- Improved CPU performance.
- Improved memory management.
- 22nm based CPU.
- Improved iGPU performance.
- More USB 3.0 support.
- Better memory performance.
- CPU performance is not much improved to upgrade an 3770k gaming setup.
- Not much power efficient, more consumption than 3770k.
