Thinking is a good for humans but thinking too much could be dangerous thing for your pocket as my friend had find a notebook for himself but he take much time to think so all the notebooks of that model are soled now and he had to pay ordering charges to get that notebook which increase the cost 7%. I am not saying that you should not think but taking too much time to think is also not good. Think and decide but never change your decision later. ASUS had been in talk much from last one year as they bring too many options to the notebook users by their variety of notebooks available today. We are going to review Asus VivoBook S500CA.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA has legacy VivoBook design and color scheme which is become a much have thing for VivoBook series of ASUS notebooks. The Asus VivoBook S500CA has brushed aluminum lid of black color and silver color around it. The notebook has weight of about 2.18Kg which is pretty decent. The Asus VivoBook S500CA has single hinge which is known as bar hinge and it is quite strong to handle the display. The lid has no softness and bottom unit is also built quite well. The area above the keyboard shows better build quality than previous models. The Asus VivoBook S500CA  has edge-to-edge glass as mention on ASUS website but I think its not suitable for build quality. The finger prints can be took up by the case easily so it would be a problem for the users who are more sensitive about finger prints on their notebooks. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has pretty good design and build quality.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA 15.6 inch TN LED glossy touch screen display panel which offers the max resolution of about 1366x768. The ASUS does not offers greater resolution display panels with Asus VivoBook S500CA so if you want to get high resolution display than chose some other notebook. The display has decent display which is pretty similar to previous model and its enough for indoor working but outdoor working might not be easy. The contrast ratio is not good as it has to be and the image quality is also inconsistent which is not good for the professionals. The viewing angles of the display are also pretty limited and reflection is also a cause which makes the outdoor working pretty difficult. The touch sensors are good but somehow reaction time is a bit long and sometimes it react fast so its also inconsistent. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has poor display screen.

As the Asus VivoBook S500CA is a 15.6 inch notebook has pretty decent size keyboard which is basically Chiclet style keyboard with black color keys. The keys are pretty good and responsive. The size of the keys is pretty decent and especially arrow keys are also of pretty same size as other keys are. The perfect pressure point, good feed back and nice surface of the keys make the keyboard of Asus VivoBook S500CA pretty good for accurate typing. The only thing we miss in the keyboard is backlighting and it does not have any separate keys for specific functions so combinations will be used as usual for all the functions like brightness, touchpad etc. The Asus VivoBook S500CA has multi gesture supported touchpad of pretty decent size with separate click keys at the bottom, separated by a line on the surface. The touchpad is pretty good and responsive in both simple and multi-gesture working and we are really pleased from touchpad. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has good keyboard and nice touchpad.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA has stereo speakers which are located on bottom (left & right) with pretty good sound quality. They had pretty decent loud volume and the base is not good and its inconsistent. The speakers are still suitable for the normal use but as you know, external speakers are always a better option to go for quality. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has pretty decent speakers.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA proved to be a uncomfortable notebook to use on the lap as it had high temperature on the surface, of components during the idle working and that is surprised thing for us to see those high temperatures raised much more than usual and they are no way in range of comfort for the users to use the notebook on the lap. The Asus VivoBook S500CA remain usual during the idle working and noise of the fan remains low and the noise increase increases rapidly under load and its was very audible and distracting for us to concentrate on any work. The users who like quiet notebook will not be pleased by Asus VivoBook S500CA. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA remain hot and louder during our tests.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA has pretty good connectivity options as it has Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi for high speed wireless connectivity. The Asus VivoBook S500CA also has AC-in, VGA, Ethernet port, HDMI and 1x USB 3.0 on the right side. It has card reader, 1x audio port, 2x USB 2.0 and Kingston lock port on the left side. The Asus VivoBook S500CA is an ultrabook so due to its slim case, optical drive is not available. It has nothing on the rear and front side. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has pretty good connectivity options.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA has 4 Cell Lithium-ion based battery of 44 watts which manage to keep it running for about 281 minutes which is nice to know. We measure the battery life by running all the tasks which a normal user is going to do like Microsoft Office work, audio songs, Video songs/ clips, surfing web via Wifi, copying files, text editing, photo editing and some gaming to measure the battery life of notebook in real world and not measuring by any battery benchmarks which are far from real life results. Overall Asus VivoBook S500CA has nice battery life.

The Asus VivoBook S500CA is a pretty decent notebook as it has pretty good keyboard and especially touchpad is pretty good. The speakers are pretty decent and battery life is very nice. The Asus VivoBook S500CA has pretty nice build quality and attractive design. The connectivity options are also pretty nice and the display screen is not as good as it has to be and its no way suitable for professionals. The Asus VivoBook S500CA runs louder and temperatures were high to use on lap during idle and load working tests. The decision is your and let us know if you want some more advice.
