HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA

HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA

We have seen plenty of nice Intel 4th and 3rd Gen. based notebooks and yet to review another great ultrabook which is also based on Intel 4th and 3rd Gen. Core processors. To be honest, all the notebooks which we had review till today, had their own respect in the market and one may like a notebook and others may not. It all the about budget and needs and that is the point where many people went into the confusion, they can’t decide perfectly, yes compromising is necessary for many but “compromising on which side” matters. Well, today we are going to review an HP ultrabook having Intel 3th Gen. processor inside which is HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has pretty much the same design and case style as all other previous models of HP EliteBook series. The black matte surface and the dark and dark colors are the major colors regarding the design. When it comes to build quality, the case has some problems, softness in the base and lid is also not as good as it has to be for a portable PC and also the left hinge has problem. The wrist rest areas show the clear problem in build quality. The area right above the optical drive has some unnecessary softness. The design is not much attractive as its pretty old regarding HP EliteBooks. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has poor build quality and old design.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has 15.6 inch TN LED Backlight display panel. The max resolution of the display screen is 1920 x 1080 which is good. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has pretty much normal level screen brightness which is just enough for indoor use but in outdoor working, it will definitely create problem. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA’s display has good level of contrast which is good enough for this kind of notebooks. The display do not support touch feature which is reasonable. The image quality is decent but not good enough for professionals, i.e. graphics designers etc. The TN display has good viewing angles but not great so the ones who like wide viewing angles should consider some other notebook with IPS panel display. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has decent display screen.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA is a 15.6-inch notebook so full keyboard is provided with large keys and separate numpad. The keyboard is basically Chiclet style keyboard which also has backlight so the people who use notebook in night will get help from backlights as well. The keys are good, with good feedback and perfect pressure point, the keyboard of HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA is perfect for typing lovers. The keys are pretty good and responsive as well as comfortable for long time typing requirements. The touchpad has separate click button on top and bottom of itself. The buttons are good but we find some problem as it does not response to 2rd finger some times during our multi-touch test of touchpad whereas it is good for normal use. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good keyboard and decent touchpad.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has 2 stereo speakers which are located on the front side of the notebook. The 2 speakers produce enough loud sound as a notebook speakers. The speakers are good and the base is also perfect as we enjoy the music during typing on HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA. The speakers has good max volume, base and mids and sound quality is also very good. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good speakers.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has produce ignorable low noise during the normal use and it still remain low and the fan sometimes stop as well. The noise increase a bit during web surfing and watching a HP clips but not much and it was still ignorable. The noise increase rapidly and it was audible and distracting while gaming and benchmarks so for gamers, they are good to go with headsets but without headsets, noise will be unpleasant for them but still for normal use, it remain quiet. The temperatures remain low as usual during normal working. The temperatures still remain low during HD clips and web surfing via WiFi. The temperatures were still decent and the notebook was usable on table and it is recommended by us to do not use it on lap while gaming or heavy work. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA remains decently quiet and cool but not during gaming.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good connectivity options as it has WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 for high speed wireless connectivity. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has only card reader at the front side. It has AC-in and Ethernet port at rear. It has 2x USB 2.0 and VGA, 2x audio ports, optical drive on the right side and it has 2x USB 3.0 Display port, Kingston lock, eSATA and Firewire at the left side. Overall HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good connectivity options.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has lithium-ion based battery of 6 cells which manages to keep the notebook working for about 305 minutes. Our battery life test includes running all the normal tasks e.g. typing while listening audio songs, watch HD clips, web surfing via WiFi, burning CD/DVD, copying files on internal storage to internal storage/ USB drives, some gaming, photo editing etc. We measure battery life by doing these things twice and after calculating average of both timing, we take the average as final battery life to get the real life based measurements instead of running battery life benchmarks by softwares which are mostly not applicable to real life scenario regarding of battery life.

The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA is a decent notebook which plenty of good things and some bad things as well. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has 3rd Gen. Intel Core i5 CPU and AMD Radeon FirePro M4000 GPU inside. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has decent display and good speakers. The performance is good and the battery life is also good for normal users. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good connectivity options including 2x USB 3.0 ports and Firewire as well. The HP EliteBook 8570w LY550EA has good keyboard but touchpad has problem in multi-touch and the design is not attractive and it is old. The build quality is very poor at this price level.
