We have seen plenty of nice Intel 4th Gen. based notebooks and yet to review another great ultrabook which is also based on Intel 4th Gen. Core processors. To be honest, all the notebooks which we had review till today, had their own respect in the market and one may like a notebook and others may not. It all the about budget and needs and that is the point where many people went into the confusion, they can’t decide perfectly, yes compromising is necessary for many but “compromising on which side” matters. Well, today we are going to review an Asus ultrabook having Intel 4th Gen. processor inside which is Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has very slim design as it’s a Zenbook so attraction at first sight is necessary and Asus does good in that regard. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has very attractive and good looking design. The dark shiny color gives it a edge on competitors and the Gorilla glass surface makes it a nice looking Zenbook. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is really slim and lightweight (1.41 Kg) which is great. The case itself is really good and the Asus build the UX301 really well, the build quality is perfect. The lid is perfect and it can absorb the reasonable pressure very well. The hinges are also perfect. The most of the frame and case has been made with aluminum which gives it good strength. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has great attractive design and solid build quality.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has IPS, LED-Backlight Glossy Display of 13.3 inches. The display is basically IPS based Gorilla glass 3 surface display panel which has the max resolution of 2560 x 1440 which is also known as 1440p. The display panels with 1920 x 1080 has become a common thing these days as most of the latest notebooks has that resolution so maybe that’s why Asus decides to go with higher one i.e. 1440p. The display has multi-touch feature and it can easily recognize and response to 10 fingers. The pixel density is about 221 DPI (dot/ inches) which is near to Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2012 with 227 DPI. The display is great when it comes to brightness and it really pleased us with its brightness. The contrast ratio is also top-class and the image quality is top of the town. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 come with premium IPS panel so obviously, the viewing angles are nice which can be expected from an IPS panel. The display works great in multi-touch test as well. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has great display screen.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has chic-let style backlit keyboard which is same layout as mostly ultrabooks had and the things does not changes much than the previous model of Zenbooks. The keys are large enough and the shape is also same. The key response time is perfect and overall keyboard efficiency is upto the mark which give great feeling while typing. The touchpad is of decent size with matte glassy surface which help while gliding fingers over it. The click buttons on bottom side with white separation line. The multi-gesture feature is also great and efficient. The overall performances of keyboard and touchpad of Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 were really nice.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has stereo speakers which are made by “Bang & Olufsen”. The Asus decide to bring the best in so that their Zenbook has the best sound which is in reality a bad decision. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 does not have the expected sound quality. The good thing about the speakers is their loudness which is good but sound quality and missing base are the things which are needed to be improved. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has poor speakers.

The matter of noise is well handled by Asus and we had to admit that, yes the Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is quieter even with the two fans (small). The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 remains very quiet in the idle working and noise does not increase much in the heavy tasking which is really impressive and it is much quieter than all the ultrabooks we have tested so far including all the Apple MacBooks. Downloading a movie and watching a 1080p HD movie with a virus scanning in background is nothing for Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 as it remain very quiet. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has two fans which helps to keep the temperatures low during the idle work as well as most of the areas of Zenbook remain cool in the stress test. The CPU temperature raised but still the Zenbook was useable. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 remains cool and quieter.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has plenty of connectivity options for the user. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has high speed latest WiFi module and Bluetooth 4.0 for high speed wireless connectivity. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has AC-in, 1x USB 3.0, audio jack and micro HDMI port on the left side. It also has mini Display port, card reader and 1x USB 3.0 port on the right side. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has nothing on the rear nor on the front side. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 all the necessary connectivity options but a full HDMI would be a better thing to add instead of micro HDMI which requires adaptor for many display devices. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has good connectivity options.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has a Lithium-Polymer integrated battery of 50 watts which manages to keep the battery for about 427 minutes in our battery life test. We had run all the normal tasks e.g. typing while listening audio songs, watch HD clips, web surfing via WiFi, burning CD/DVD, copying files on internal storage to internal storage/ USB drives, some gaming, photo editing etc. We measure battery life by doing these things twice and after calculating average of both timing, we take the average as final battery life to get the real life based measurements instead of running battery life benchmarks by softwares which are mostly not applicable to real life scenario regarding of battery life.

The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is really a great Zenbook from Asus which performs really well during our tests. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has 4th Gen Intel Core i7 4558u dual core CPU with turbo boost and integrated Iris graphics 5100 and the main part is that it has 2x SanDisk X110 128GB SSDs in Raid 0 and the whole design and case is terrific i.e. its slim, lightweight and cool looking. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has great 13.3-inch IPS panel display with multi-touch and good connectivity options as well. The Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 has good keyboard and touchpad. The battery life of Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is great as well. The Zenbook has solid build quality and remains cool and quiet during our tests but the speakers are not good as expected at this price level. Overall Asus Zenbook Infinity UX301 is a good choice to make, that’s what I can say. The final decision is your and ask us for any query.
