There are some really interesting graphics cards have come into the market and the battle between Nvidia and AMD has reached at its peak again, this is really a good thing for the people who are willing to buy a new GPU for themselves. The main plus point of this dominance war is that consumer’s cost reduce to about 10% to 15% because of both brands wanted to get more sales and dominate the score cards. So far Nvidia has the edge over AMD from about 5 months but now AMD has launched some GPUs as well to create room in market for them. Today we are going to review an AMD graphics card from their R9 series which is AMD R9 290X.
The AMD R9 290X is the top card in their New R9 lineup. The R9 290 is also available which is a bit lower than this card. The basic intentions of AMD for this card it to compete with the Nvidia GTX 780 GPU and make its place in the market. The expected price which was higher but this card has been release on low price so that it can compete head to head with GTX 780. The AMD R9 290X is powered with Hawaii GPU and the 28 nm process architecture is the same as GTX 780 has so the numbers of transistors also higher which is 6.2 Billion. The AMD R9 290X has base clock of about 1 Ghz and it can boost upto 1140 Mhz easily which is really a good factor. The AMD R9 290X has massive 4 GB GDDR5 memory which is clocked at 5 Ghz effective. The 384 bit interface of GTX 780 is head to head with AMD R9 290X’s 512 Bit interface. The 2816 stream processing units are enough to powered the AMD R9 290X.
There is higher transfer rate or bandwidth of AMD R9 290X (331 GB/s) than the 288 GB/s of Nvidia GTX 780. The power consumption is a factor where AMD R9 290X is behind than GTX 780 as it consumes more power but we have to keep a fact in mind that it has higher clock than GTX 780 and temperatures were still acceptable. The overall build quality of AMD R9 290X is really good and the look is also cool as AMD keep their legacy color scheme of Red and Black colors. We think that’s it and let jump in and see the performance instead of reading text……

The AMD R9 290X is really a great card and it is really more powerful than the GTX 780 but the question is that why not AMD release this card about 5 months ago. We think it is not the ideal time to launch this card as Nvidia GTX 780 Ti has been brought into the market as well by Nvidia. The AMD R9 290X is really awesome looking and better performer than GTX 780 and it has higher clock speed as well. The AMD R9 290X is the best choice to make if you do not have enough money to buy the GTX 780 Ti which is about $80 to $90 higher than AMD R9 290X. The final decision is your and you have to make the real decision as well and we will always & every time appreciate you whenever you contact us for help or advice.
