The storage is something that is very important in any PC build as well as for notebooks. The Hard Disk Drives are the traditional storage devices from past two decades but things are not the same today, from past 3 or 4 years, the SSDs have not been choose as main storage because of their low storage capacity but not in 2013. There are a lot of SSDs are available today in 480GB, 510GB and even in 960GB storage capacity and I think it’s the time for SSDs to take over the game from HDD. The main advantages of Solid State Drives are 1: They are shock proofed. 2: High read/ write speeds. The gamers/ enthusiasts love the SSDs but these days, notebook owner prefer SSDs because they do not worry about carrying their notebook carefully anymore regarding Storage Disks. Today we are going to review an SSD from SanDisk which is known for their excellent reliable products and the SSD on table is SanDisk Extreme II in 480GB Storage capacity.
As we all know that all the SSD brands use 3rd party controllers in their SSDs except Samsung which make their whole SSD i.e. everything on their own. The SanDisk Extreme use the better Marvell's 88SS9187 controller which is also used in Plextor M5 Pro series SSDs. The SanDisk Extreme II is a good increment in the SanDisk SSDs lineup. The new SLC NAND has been used in SanDisk Extreme II which also improved the reliability of this SSD. This SLC NAND is faster than the TLC NAND flash. The SLC NAND also reduces the latency rate in both read/ write operations as well. The performance in the benchmarks is improved than its predecessor. The 19nm flash with custom firmware solution is also a good point for SanDisk Extreme II. The SSDs we have tested till yet are still behind in latency rate except the new Samsung EVO which is better but still there is one thing which give the SanDisk Extreme II an edge over the Samsung EVO which is its highly protective encryption which is still not enabled in EVO. The capacity of Samsung EVO is greater and there is no doubt in that but the main thing is SanDisk Extreme II is a good choice to make in the market regarding its performance and reliability of SanDisk products.
The SanDisk Extreme II is really a good SSD in the market and due to its design and slimness which make it a good choice for desktop users as well as laptop users. The SanDisk Extreme II is really fast and expected to be reliable as the track record of the SanDisk products. The SanDisk Extreme II has low latency rate as well. The SanDisk Extreme II has solid build quality and custom firmware solution as well. The SanDisk Extreme II has new SLC NAND flash and controller. The SanDisk Extreme II has good capacity options as well. Overall it’s a best choice to make todays and due to its performance and warranty, SanDisk Extreme II got an Editor’s choice award on SaadReviews.Com.
