AMD is known for its best performance + price processors and that is why some people like AMD and always want an AMD processor in their PC. AMD CPUs are available in very low prices and they suggest to have a AMD CPU + AMD GPU for best performance. Some people like AMD because their decent performer, cheaper processors and the cost of the whole PC remain very low compare to Intel based PC which easily exceeds $600. When AMD FX series launch, people get very impressed because of their 8 core processors which come at very low prices.
AMD FX 8 core processors are known for their 8 cores label but when we talk about performance, 8 cores is just a label and the FX 8150 proved to be a Faildozer instead of Bulldozer. People get very impressed by 8 cores but soon they disappoint because AMD 8 Cores CPU does not even beat Intel 4 Core i5 CPUs. AMD FX 8120 is also belongs to FX series as its name describe. The truth which is un ignoble is that these FX 8 Cores processor are very cheap whereas Intel 6 Cores Processors comes at about $1000. AMD FX 8120 has 8 cores and 8MB of cache memory with clock speed of 3.1 Ghz and claimed to be unlocked by AMD. The max TDP of AMD FX 8120 is 125 watts but the facts can’t be ignored when Intel launch its Sandy Bridge and now Ivy Bridge processors, AMD CPU market has been well below the bed level and continues. The overlclock ability of AMD FX 8120 is really great but the problem is that when you overclock it a little more i.e. 4.5+ Ghz, the performance lags from the all cores and more overclocking disable the 6 cores and you will be able to used only 2 cores. AMD FX 8120 has no Hyper Threading technology so its not much suitable for high multi-tasking.
Lets take a look at Benchmarks results.
AMD FX 8120 is a good CPU with decent performance and 8 cores, 8MB of cache and great overclocking but don’t expect more performance from it than Intel because it does not performance better than Intel core i5 CPUs. The AMD FX 8120 comes at about $155 which is a very low price.
- Decent Performance.
- Low Price, $155.
- Best for low budget PCs.
- 8 AMD cores.
- 8MB of Cache.
- Not the fastest, not even more than Intel Core i5 CPUs.
- Bulldozer is only a tag, not more than this.
- Not much improvement than Phenom x6 1100t.
