Dell Latitude 6430u Review + BenchMarks

Notebooks have become a very important for daily life today and we done most of the hard work on the notebook which not only saves our time but the cost as well. When I bought my notebook, the thing which comes in my mind was the processor and battery life and in my opinion these are two basic things which a notebook must have i.e. latest and performer. Today we are going to review Dell Latitude 6430u notebook.

Dell Latitude 6430u has a very nice design with smooth edges and surface. Dell Latitude 6430u has a thick design and it is very different than previous DELL latitude notebooks. Dell Latitude 6430u has glossy brushed surface which has been mad with metal and the overall dark silver and dark grey color with the magnesium alloy constructed body, Dell Latitude 6430u is a nice notebook. The surface can absorb the finger prints easily and it is like rubber so you can easily remove the finger prints from it. Only a very slight depression can be seen down the center of the outer lid and on the center of the keyboard, both of which are normally weak spots on notebooks. Slight side-to-side twisting of the base and display can be observed as well, but not enough to warrant any longevity concerns. Overall the Dell Latitude 6430u has good design and its different than previous dell notebooks.

Dell Latitude 6430u has a 14 inches Anti-glare display with the resolution of 1366x768 which is usual for these kind of mid-level notebook and Dell does not provide any other options with Dell Latitude 6430u regarding to display. The brightness of Dell Latitude 6430u is pretty much decent but the contrast is not as good as brightness and also the black color problem is a bite of worry as well. When we test the viewing angles of Dell Latitude 6430u, we found that Dell Latitude 6430u are very limited and its very frustrated when you try to watch movie with friends and the angle views are horrible , yes they are too limited. The screen can be used outside as the brightness is very decent but the reflection cause some problem which can be handle by increasing the brightness. So overall Dell Latitude 6430u has a decent TN panel display.

Dell Latitude 6430u has a backlit Chiclet style of keyboard  which is different from the keyboards of previous models and it is just fine when I saw it first time. The color theme of keys is dark black. The keys are of decent size but the problem is that some keys are too soft and some are hard to be press so if you are looking to type fast, it miss the tap some times and some time it miss-type two characters. The arrow key are nice and they response very well thought out the test. The touchpad is of very small size than the usual ultrabooks had. The smooth glide and multi-touch gestures are both responsive and without issues, though of course the latter could have still benefited greatly from a larger surface area. The reduced size of the touchpad can be attributed to the two sets of left- and right-click keys immediately above and below it. Dell has elected to not integrate the click keys into the touchpad and has instead retained the dedicated mouse buttons. Overall Dell Latitude 6430u has a good touch pad but poor keyboard.

Dell Latitude 6430u has very nice stereo speakers which are located on the top of the keyboard, the very next to hinges and the sound quality is very nice. The volume of Dell Latitude 6430u’s speakers is very well and loud enough to watch a movie with some friends as well. There is a clear lack of bass, which is to be expected from a notebook of this size and category. The speakers are sufficient for the occasional music and are loud enough for typical classrooms and conference rooms. Overall the speakers are good for this kind of mid-level notebook.

Dell Latitude 6430u runs not as cool as expected and the temperatures of surface, middle of keyboard and on the edges were quite high when the notebook was in idle mode and that is not good and when we test the temperatures during the stress test, it was a little bit high than the expected level but not to worry. The fan noise of Dell Latitude 6430u remain quiet low both during the idle mode and stress test and that is very good thing. The fan remain very quiet during we watch a HD movie with friend and absolutely we can’t hear its noise at all. Overall Dell Latitude 6430u was cooler and quieter under stress/load.

Dell Latitude 6430u offers all essential ports including a card reader, multiple USB 3.0 ports, two video-out ports and Gigabit Ethernet. Like other recent Latitudes, the ports are located towards the rear of the sides and backend for easy accessibility without entangling the user in cables. The SD card reader is positioned a bit more awkwardly on the right. It also has Bluetooth 4.0 and wifi of "B/G/N" band. Overall Dell Latitude 6430u has every option for connectivity.

Dell Latitude 6430u has 60 Wh, 6-cell Lithium-Polymer battery which has a nice battery life of 339 minutest and its very good for a ultrabook to keep running on battery for almost 5.5 hours. We run pretty much all the application and task as Microsoft Office, typing, watching HD movie, audio songs, internet surfing via wifi etc. to get the most accurate result as in real life. Overall Dell Latitude 6430u has very good battery life.

Dell Latitude 6430u is a pretty good notebook for mid-level users and it has some great features including a 128GB SSD. The battery life is quite best for a notebook. Dell Latitude 6430u has all the connectivity options which you may need. It has a small but good touchpad. It has a good design as well. The key are not good enough and display need some improvements .Its performance in our benchmarks tests is good as well.
