We will publish a notebook buying Guide soon. ASUS is widely known for its motherboards and gaming notebooks as they performs great and their build quality is solid as well. Today we are gonna review ASUS VivoBook S550CM.

The ASUS VivoBook S550CM has full size keyboard with the separate numpad as well as it’s a 15.6 inch notebook. The ASUS VivoBook S550CM’s keyboard is large in size and keys are also of larger size. The surface of the keys is also quite suitable for. The keyboard is basically Chiclet style keyboard and with the perfect nice key strokes and pressure points, the keyboard of ASUS VivoBook S550CM is quite suitable for accurate fast typing. The touchpad is also of large size and has the multi-gesture feature as well as it’s a Windows 8 notebook so this is a must have feature for any Windows 8 notebook. The surface is perfect for finger gliding which helps in navigation and multi-gesture operations. The keys are not visible as it’s a Clickpad so whole surface can be used instead of keys. The touchpad done well in out navigation and multi-gesture tests. Overall ASUS VivoBook S550CM has good keyboard and touchpad.
The ASUS VivoBook S550CM has stereo speakers which are located on the bottom side which is not a ideal position for the speakers and the fear becomes truth. The bass is completely missing and the sound quality produced by the speakers is also poor. The max volume is decent but due to the position of speakers, the overall sound was not pleasant as it has to be. Overall ASUS VivoBook S550CM has poor speakers.
The ASUS VivoBook S550CM has pretty good low temperature, along the side and the surface and components temperatures were quite low during the idle working scenario and they remain quite low and in the load working scenario, the temperatures were still under the danger level and it seems true that ASUS had done good work on it. The noise of the fan in the idle mode was also low than many Ultrabook and it never completely turn off but the noise produced was very low, rarely audible. The noise was a bit audible in the load working scenario but not much distracting as normal user rarely do that kind of heavy work i.e. running BenchMarks which push the CPU and GPU till their limits. Overall ASUS VivoBook S550CM runs quieter and cool.

The ASUS VivoBook S550CM is a good Ultrabook with a very slim and sleek aluminum case with the good solid build quality. The Asus VivoBook S550CM has good keyboard and touchpad. The temperatures were quite low both in idle and load working scenarios of ASUS VivoBook S550CM. The battery life is decent (236 minutes). The connectivity options are pretty good and ASUS includes all the necessary connectivity options and optical drive is also included. The noise of the fan was also less audible and distractive than some of the Ultrabook having dedicated GPU. The speakers are also poor. Overall ASUS VivoBook S550CM is not a bad options to make at all but the final decision is your which depends upon your need and budge but one thing is solid as rock, the display screen is not suitable for professionals and overall it shows poor results in our tests.
