The storage is something that is very important in any PC build as well as for notebooks. The Hard Disk Drives are the traditional storage devices from past two decades but things are not the same today, from past 3 or 4 years, the SSDs have not been choose as main storage because of their low storage capacity but not in 2013. There are a lot of SSDs are available today in 250GB/ 256GB, 480GB, 510GB and even in 960GB storage capacity and I think it’s the time for SSDs to take over the game from HDD. The main advantages of Solid State Drives are 1: They are shock proofed.  2: High read/ write speeds. The gamers/ enthusiasts love the SSDs but these days, notebook owner prefer SSDs because they do not worry about carrying their notebook carefully anymore regarding Storage Disks. Today we are going to review an SSD Crucial which is their new M500 SSD in 480 GB capacity.

We have already review few SSDs of Crucial which performs good and their SSDs are less expensive as well as reliable. The Crucial M500 is available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB and 960GB storage capacities in the market. The Crucial M500 is the only SSD after Samsung 840 EVO which offers 600+ GB capacity of storing data. The Crucial M500 SSD is a good improvement in their lineup and an good replacement for Crucial M4 SSD. The Crucial M500 SSD has the same problem. The Crucial M500 SSD has a very slim size and it can be fit in any ultrabook as its 7 mm thin. The metallic body of Crucial M500 SSD looks really good and design is pretty much same as the previous Crucial SSDs. It has MFT's 128Gbit 20nm  MLC NAND which seems to be a good improvement and the Marvel's  88SS9187 controller seems to work really well and both of them increase the performance than the previous model and put the Crucial M500 in top 5 SSDs list in the market. There is DDR3 cache in Crucial M500 480GB which help to improve the performance as well. The Crucial M500 is the only SSD in the market which has 256 bit AES encryption enabled with 600+ GB capacity (Crucial M500 960GB) whereas Samsung EVO has that feature but its not enabled yet by manufacturer. So lets jump in and see how much guts, Crucial M500 has ?

The Crucial M500 is really a good improvement in the Crucial SSD lineup and it performs good with new controller and NANA. The price of all the models of Crucial M500 is very affordable but the performance of Crucial M500 is inconsistent and it not much better than Crucial M4, so if you have an M4 SSD and want to upgrade to faster Crucial SSD only than its not the time to do so because its not worth it but there are more option to consider like Samsun 840 EVO which has max size of 1 TB. The Crucial M500 is a good SSD for people who do not have money for high end SSDs but want more capacity than Crucial M500 is the only hope they which is not bad at all, actually it’s a God’s gift for them. The Crucial M500 is a best choice to make for low budget people. Contact us for more advice/ help by leaving a comment below.
