The storage is something that is very important in any PC build as well as for notebooks. The Hard Disk Drives are the traditional storage devices from past two decades but things are not the same today, from past 3 or 4 years, the SSDs have not been choose as main storage because of their low storage capacity but not in 2013. There are a lot of SSDs are available today in 250GB/ 256GB, 480GB, 510GB and even in 960GB storage capacity and I think it’s the time for SSDs to take over the game from HDD. The main advantages of Solid State Drives are 1: They are shock proofed. 2: High read/ write speeds. The gamers/ enthusiasts love the SSDs but these days, notebook owner prefer SSDs because they do not worry about carrying their notebook carefully anymore regarding Storage Disks. Today we are going to review an SSD from OCZ which there new Vertex 450 256GB.
We have seen some SSDs of OCZ already which performs really good in our benchmarks and in real life as well but the OCZ vector performs top class and it is still in top 3 SSDs today regarding performance. The OCZ Vertex 450 is their new SSD which is available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage capacity. The OCZ Vertex 450 256GB is the model which we have for review. The Indilinx Barefoot 3 M10 is the controller which has been used in OCZ Vertex 450. This SSD has improved 20 nm IMFT Synchronous MLC NAND for better reliability. The OCZ vector also has the same controller as this SSD. The packaging is pretty much same as other SSDs, it come with manuals, screws and 2.5” to 3.5” adaptor to use in desktop PC, its not needed for notebook users. The OCZ vector and this Vertex 450 has pretty much same box and accessories but just the color scheme is different. It supports SATA Gen. 3.0, 6 Gb/s and I don’t know why its not SATA 3.1 supported which is the new coming version of SATA port. The overall size of OCZ Vertex 450 is small and its much thin and it will easily fit in any ultrabook as well. So let jump in the benchmarks and see how much power it has ?
The OCZ is known for its performance and enthusiasm but they are also known for their terrible reliability especially the OCZ Vector SSD prove to be fastest and the failure rate raised to 6.9% till today so I will not recommend any OCZ SSD. The OCZ Vertex 450 is really good SSD regarding performance and design. This SSD performs good but expensive. If I had to decide to get an SSD for my system, I would definitely think about performance and choose OCZ Vertex 450 but because of their failure rate, I will prefer some other brand like Samsung, Corsair etc. The final decision is you and you had to decide, contact us for any help or advice by putting a comment below.
