The notebook market is really hot these days and the environment is not much different from last year except Dell is dominating instead of HP in daily working category in notebook market with booth ultrabooks and laptops, we are not talking about gaming notebooks !. These days of Christmas and New Year are great opportunities for people with small budget as the price drops much more than last year. People should pay attention to new laptop from Dell and Acer which are doing really great job especially Dell. Dell is known for its consistent performer notebooks and invention whereas Acer is known for its sleek design, support and notebooks with good battery life. So today we are going to review a Dell notebook which is the new Dell XPS 15 Late 2013.
The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has a standard keyboard and as it is a 15.6-inch notebook so the keys are of larger size. The keyboard is basically Chiclet style keyboard with black matte surface keys which almost same in the predecessor as well. The keyboard has backlights so night workers get the advantage of this feature. The efficiency of keys is really good and with good feedback and perfect pressure point, the keyboard does a good job in out typing test and we really enjoy the typing. The touchpad is large enough for any person and for multi-touch feature. The touchpad works really great, efficiently in normal and multi-touch test. The surface is very suitable for gliding fingers over it. Overall Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has good keyboard and touchpad.
The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has perfect speakers which are located near to the front edge on the bottom side of notebook. The speakers produce enough loud sound and the base is low. The sound quality is good regarding their size and position, we would say, its better than others at this location. Overall Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has good speakers.
The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has good low temperatures during the normal test and we measure low temperatures from top to bottom, edges and palm rest area remain cool and comfortable. The components were also cooler than usual but the temperatures does not goes too much high even in the stress test and its nothing to worry to use this notebook on the lap except you are going to use the notebook longer than 1 hour on lap and running extremely stress work e.g. ultra-high gaming and 3d rendering. The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 has two fans so they were quiet during normal usage and they were almost un-hearable at that particular moment. The noise increase in the stress test and it was quite audible and distracting but watching 1080p movie, downloading files and scanning for virus, are not going to push it to that noisy limit so nothing to worry about for normal use but if you are planning to watch movie while rendering any 3D scene, then you may hear distracting noise of the fans so Overall Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 remains cool and quiet in normal and distracting noisy during stress test.
The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 is really a good notebook with plenty of pros and some cons, It has Intel 4th Gen. Core i7 Quad Core CPU and NVIDIA GT 750M 2GB graphics card along 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM. The storage system is faster, i.e. SSD of 512GB storage space and very high resolution display, even higher than predecessor and MacBook Retina as well. The battery life is really great. The keyboard and touchpad, both are very nice. The touch enabled display is also a plus point. The connectivity options are wide. The performance is top class. The Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 remains cool most of the time but it is noisy, even with an SSD inside. The display should have better viewing angles but unfortunately they are not good at the moment. The Ethernet port is must for all the laptops or ultrabooks but Dell XPS 15 Late 2013 does not have it and the battery is non-removable. We mention all good and bad sides, now it is your turn to decide but you are always welcome to contact us for more help or advice!
