The notebook market is really hot these days and the environment is not much different from last year except Dell is dominating instead of HP in daily working category in notebook market with booth ultrabooks and laptops, we are not talking about gaming notebooks !. These days of Christmas and New Year are great opportunities for people with small budget as the price drops much more than last year. People should pay attention to new laptop from Dell and Acer which are doing really great job especially Dell. Dell is known for its consistent performer notebooks and invention whereas Acer is known for its sleek design, support and notebooks with good battery life. So today we are going to review a Dell notebook which is the new Dell Latitude 3440.
The Dell Latitude 3440 is a 14.0-inch notebook so you can’t expect the separate numpad with it. The Dell Latitude 3440 has standard keyboard with decently large keys with rounded corners. The keys have a little darker shade which looks good with black glossy bed. The gap between the keys is a little more than usual. The keyboard have some new key placements than usual and user may take some time to get used to it. The keys are efficient and with good pressure point and feedback we do not find any problem in our typing test. The last thing about keyboard is that it does not have backlights/ luminance. The Dell Latitude 3440 has decently larger touchpad with respect to it size(14-inch). The keys are physically separated and placed on the bottom of touchpad. The touchpad has very good texture surface which really helps to glide the fingers over it. The touchpad is really good and the keys are also efficient. The multi-finger operation can be performed but we prefer a little large touchpad for that purpose. Overall Dell Latitude 3440 has good keyboard and touchpad.
The Dell Latitude 3440 has stereo speaker which are at the front of the notebook and the Dell Latitude 3440 has a very unique speaker location and they are tiny. The max volume is decent but the sound quality is not upto the mark. The base is completely missing and the tiny sound does not feels good to use. The sound quality is also not appreciable. Overall Dell Latitude 3440 has poor speakers.
The Dell Latitude 3440 has very good noise reduction and that is why we like this notebook as a quiet notebook. The Dell Latitude 3440 produce very low noise even in the idle mode and sometimes the fan turn off completely and you can’t hear it all. The noise is the stress test was lower than usual and it’s a good thing for Dell Latitude 3440. The Dell Latitude 3440 remains very quiet and cools as well in the idle working. The temperatures are well managed and the notebook remains very cool in the idle working test as well as in the stress test. The Dell Latitude 3440 has acceptable temperatures in the stress test and it can be used on the lap whenever you want and no matter what you are doing. Overall Dell Latitude 3440 remains cool and quiet.
The Dell Latitude 3440 is really a good notebook by keep its features and price in mind. The Dell Latitude 3440 has latest Intel 4th Gen. Core i5 4200U CPU and Nvidia GTX 640M GPU with 2 GB GDDR5 memory and the 1600 MHz DDR3 6 GB RAM. The Dell Latitude 3440 has 750GB 5400 rpm HDD as well. The 14.0-inch has good looks and build quality. The Dell Latitude 3440 has good display screen except limited viewing angles. The speakers are poor. The Dell Latitude 3440 has very nice long battery life of 401 minutes. The temperatures remain low and the noise produced is also very low regardless what kind of work you are doing, you will not hear the distracting noise. The Dell Latitude 3440 has required connectivity option but HDMI and card reader are not available which is not good for a notebook of this price range. The Dell Latitude 3440 performs good in benchmarks. If you can compromise on viewing angles of display screen, speakers and HDMI port than Dell Latitude 3440 is a good choice to make, otherwise consider other notebooks instead of Dell Latitude 3440.
