Sony Vaio Duo 11 Review + BenchMarks

Now a days market is full of the ultrabooks which has duality features of both an ultrabook + tablet as Idea pad Yoga 13 which we review few days ago, every major brand want to sale their laptops/ultrabooks as the market is at its peak in the history and the millions of users are buying the new Core Intel processor based PCs and this make the laptop market a gold mine. Sony Vaio laptops are known for their styles and customization and also they become a fashion symbol today. Now we are going to review the Sony Vaio Duo 11 ultrabook.

With a Slide design Sony Vaio Duo 11 is a very attractive ultrabook which is both a ultrabook and a tabler at the same time. The body of Sony Vaio Duo 11 is made with magnesium alloy and solid black color gives the eyes an good feeling. The Display screen is of just 11.6" with full HD resolution of 1920x1080, enough to display everything clear as possible. The sliding function has been performed by display screen with the help of sliding mechanism which is behind the screen and its very good as screen does not slides itself and that a good feature because we often change the viewing angle due to our sitting position and if this mechanism fails the screen itself slides and that would be a ball of hell but it’s not happen as we try every angel changing many times to test .

On the right side of the Sony Vaio Duo 11, there is an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports for connectivity and on the left side it has Power button, an SD card slot and a VGA connector and a Headphone jack for audio out. Sony Vaio Duo 11 has a WebCam of 2.4 megapixel. This thing has a very nice Wifi build in with very good performance at N-band and also a high speed Bluetooth v 4.0 is built in the Vaio Duo 11. Overall its a good ultrabook with repect to connectivity and has every port that you may need in today's life.

Sony Vaio Duo 11 is powered by Intel’s 3rd Generation, Ivy Bridge Processor, Intel Core i5 3317u running at the 1.7Ghz default clock speed and it can turbo boost upto 2.5 Ghz and Sony Vaio Duo 11 has 6 GB DDR3 RAM, for storage purpose they had put an SSD of 128GB of SATA 6 Gbps interface. It has a 49Wh Li-Polymer battery as well. With the weight of 2.87 pounds, its really a light weight to carry around with you. The touch sensors are good but some times they did not recognize the touch and it really disappoint us because it’s a touch ultrabook and the main feature is lacking.

The keyboard has unfortunately a bit tiny keys and we had very problem with this because the mistakes often happened during our typing test and its really frustrating when you are in a hurry to type some thing. There is no track pad on Sony Vaio Duo 11. Sony provides left/right buttons and a very small optical pointing stick to use as touch pad/mouse for navigation on screen. The touch are impressively very responsive but as they are of small size, you may have difficulty to use them and the pointing stick located b/t G and H keys, is really nice but its very tiny so you may face problem while  using it.

The sound of Vaio Duo 11 is good and we can easily say that it has quality audio and speaker and it performs nicely during out tests when we play movies and songs on it of various formats but that does not means that the speaker are loud, we say that they produces quality sound but not loud as you expect. Overall sound is of nice quality but speaker are not loud as expected.

The Vaio Duo 11 does not produce much heat so the fan runs very quiet and this is a very good plus point as Vaio laptops are mostly not runs quiet but this ultrabook does.
The battery of Vaio Duo 11 lasted for 257 minutes in our battery test, we try to do every thing as a normal user does, for example we watch movies, play songs and a little gaming and office typing and table making stuff and some photo editing to make almost 100% perfect result.Overall Vaio Duo 11 has perform well as expected in the battery lasting test and get a thumb up with a half yellow star in Overall score.

Sony Vaio Duo 11 is an ultrabook of very nice design and great performance both from CPU and GPU (iGPU, HD4000 ) and great connectivity but it lack on its back bone feature i.e. Touch screen feature and its not just good enough and also the key board is not just good, it has tiny keys which make the typing very difficult. Speakers are not loud enough to watch movies. Heat produced in very small amount and noise is also very low but we are not satisfied by overall from Sony Vaio Duo 11.
