Dell Precision M4800 Review + BenchMarks

There are many laptops are in the market and especially the thinner ones are the mainly sold notebooks these days which are also known as ultrabooks. In this coming winter people have wide variety to choose from here in Asia, for example all the brands had introduced many ultrabooks and they are still doing that so people have more options to choose. The ultrabooks are light weight as well as they last long so if you had a notebook which last for 6 or 7 hours easily then you don’t have to remain around the power socket but choosing the right one is not an easy job without doing proper homework before going into the market for deal. The gaming notebooks are power hungry but they perform very well and the people who likes performance and mobility + gaming will definitely go for gaming notebooks. The balance between the need and budget is not a hard thing to do these days as you can ask experts and take their opinions to make perfect decisions. Today we are going to review a notebook from Dell, its Dell Precision M4800.

The Dell Precision M4800 has 15.6-inch nice case with dark color and silver shading at some points. The notebook looks bulky but it is not heavy in reality as the total weight of the notebook is about 3.2 Kg which is good for notebooks of this caliber. The Dell Precision M4800 has pretty much similar casing and color is also same. The Dell Precision M4800’s case has been built with the material work as well as some plastic. The build quality is really perfect and we do not find any problematic flaws and softness in the casing except the lid has some softness and it can be bent a little. The design is good but not new. Overall Dell Precision M4800 has good design and pretty decent build quality.

The Dell Precision M4800 has 15.6-inch TN LED display which has the max resolution of about 3200 x 1800. The Dell Precision M4800’s display screen has pretty much high resolution than the competitor as this is a notebook for professional people e.g. graphics designers, editors etc. The brightness of the display screen is really nice and the contrast ratio was also good. The Dell Precision M4800 has nice display which also has great image quality as the resolution helps it a lot to do that. The icons and the text look too small which is a disadvantage of high resolution display in smaller size. The viewing angles of the notebook are (horizontal) good but the vertical viewing angles are not good at all and people viewing the display from higher or lower side position will definitely find it difficult. Overall Dell Precision M4800 has good display which is good for professionals but if they do not need wider viewing angles.

The Dell Precision M4800 is a 15.6-inch notebook so obviously it comes with separate numpad as well. The keys are not much different than its predecessor. The key size is perfect and the Sharpe edged keys with backlights as well to support the user in the dark. The Dell Precision M4800 is a good notebook regarding its responsive keyboard with nice pressure points and good feedback of keyboard keys. The additional function keys are also available for the users. The touchpad has separate click buttons on top and bottom side of itself. The touchpad is not larger but it’s not too small as well. The touchpad work good in our test but in the multi-gesture test, it works nice but the size of touchpad is not ideal for multi-gesture operations. Overall Dell Precision M4800 has good keyboard and touchpad.

The Dell Precision M4800 has stereo speakers which are located above the keyboard. The speakers produce pretty good loud sound. The sound quality is good and sound include pretty decent base as well. The sound of the speakers is pretty good as notebook speakers. The external speakers are always the best option but as notebook speakers, Dell Precision M4800 has good notebook speakers.

The Dell manage the temperatures very well as they install two fans in Dell Precision M4800. The temperature remains really low in the idle working test and they also remain lower than its competitors in the stress test as well. The Dell Precision M4800 can be used on the lap easily. The Dell Precision M4800 runs cool and noise produced was almost quieter in the idle working test. The noise of the two fan remain low in the gaming, anti-virus scanning, web surfing + HD movie etc. except benchmarks tests in which the noise was high and distraction but expected users of this notebook e.g. graphics professionals may experience this scenario but for normal user. Overall Dell Precision M4800 remain cool but not quiet.

The Dell Precision M4800 has WiFi latest Bluetooth 4.0 for high speed wireless connectivity options which are good for daily connectivity with internet and mobile/ smart phones. The Dell Precision M4800 has wireless (WiFi) switch, Eject able drive bay, 2x USB 3.0 ports and Display Port on the right side. It also has Gigabit LAN, eSATA + USB 2.0, Power-in and HDMI port on the rear side. The Dell Precision M4800 has smart card reader and Express card reader, Slot-in drive, card reader, Kingston lock, 2x audio ports and 2x USB 3.0 ports on the left side. Overall optical drive has nice connectivity options.

The Dell Precision M4800 has 9 Cells Lithium-ion based battery of 97 watts which manages to keep the notebook running for about 231 minutes in our battery life test which is really good for notebook of this kind. We do all the normal tasks as Microsoft office work with audio songs in background, surfing web via WiFi, HD video clips, running latest gaming like BF3, crisis 3 and metro last night, copying files, photo editing, Cinema4D rendering etc. Overall Dell Precision M4800 has good battery life.

The Dell Precision M4800 has 4th gen. Intel Core i7 quad core CPU with Nvidia Quadro GPU for professional users. The Dell Precision M4800 has good performance results in our benchmarks tests. The Dell Precision M4800 has good connectivity as well. The display has higher image quality but viewing angles are not good for professionals. The keyboard and touchpad are also responsive. The speakers are good and run pretty cool but noise was distracting. The connectivity options are nice as well including 3 card readers and 4x USB 3.0 ports. The design looks bulky and old but notebook is not as heavy as it looks. Overall it’s a good notebook for professionals but with limited viewing angles.
