We have review some great ultrabooks and notebooks so far and still we looking for more and yes, it give more traffic to our site as notebooks is a hot search query these days on the Google and people are spending much more money in notebooks than the desktop today as it offers more mobility and comfort of use disrespecting to the place where you want to use it. Intel has made the market into a Gold mine with its “ultra-thin” idea of Ultrabook which is surely everyone’s choice today as they offer more power with less weight to carry. Sony Made some very nice notebooks which are stylish as well as top performers so Today we are going to review a Sony notebook which is Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has attractive design and nice build quality regarding to the  surface of black matte and black color really suit the notebook. The Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E looks like a ultrabook but its not neither Its heavy as a laptop so you can say that its between laptop and ultrabook as its weight is just 1.96 Kg which is a bit more than ultrabook’s max weight as Intel defined and it’s a bit low than usual weight of laptops. The Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has a magnesium work all around the outer surface and body but magnesium is also used around the keyboard and with black colored matte surface, it matches the overall design. The body is consistent regarding to the build quality but there is some problem with hinges which are a bit loose which cause the problem with handling the display but Overall Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has good design.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has an IPS Glossy display of 15.5 inches which is nice for 15+ inch notebooks and the display has max resolution of 1920x1080 which is quite sensational. The display has wide viewing angles as we know that is a top feature of IPS displays. The brightness level of Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E’s display is also perfect and user can’t really complaint about that. The image quality is also nice and we tried to find out any problem but we find some problems with display regarding displaying colors in ultra-high resolution images. The contrast ratio is also great and all these thing together makes the display perfect for outdoor use in sun light and you can watch the movies with friend because of wide viewing angles.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has basically a Chiclet style keyboard with the numpad as well as it’s a 15+ inch notebook so numpad should be included and Sony does not disappoint us in this regard. The size of keys is pretty decent and you can’t really complaint about the size. The keyboard has some extra utility button above which are good for users as short cut buttons. The responsiveness of the keys is just of average level and it will never feels good to have an average level keyboard with $2000+ notebook. The touchpad is a bit on left side which is good position and the keys are not available on the surface as it’s a a clickable touchpad so you can do clicking stuff on the surface of touchpad. The touchpad has the multi gesture feature and it works really well during our tests and the responsive of the touchpad was really good and it should be good with a $2000+ notebook. Overall Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has an average level keyboard and nice touchpad.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has stereo speakers which are located above the keyboard which is a good position for the speakers on any notebook. The speakers produce average level sound quality as the max volume is high but you can’t really expected this kind of quality with this $2000+ notebook and the base is almost absent. Honestly, the speakers are not good at all for this kind of notebook. Overall Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E does not have good speakers and you should get external speakers with it.

The temperatures all around the surface and around the keyboard remains really in O.K zone so you will not have any problem with temps in idle mode but you will not like to use it on the lap especially when the notebook will running any heavy application as the temperatures increase rapidly and they are not good to use the notebook on the lap, it’s a old problem with Sony notebook and Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E seems to carry on the legacy. The fan remain quiet but never completely turn off when the notebook was in idle mode but it tuns louder under load and produce loud, distractive noise which is not ignorable while doing some task which requires concentration. Overall Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E runs loud and has high temperatures under load.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has all the necessary connectivity option for the users as it has Bluetooth 4.0 and latest “N” band supported wifi for high speed wireless communication and It has optical drive, 2x audio ports and Kingston lock on the left side and on the right side, it has 1x USB 2.0, 2x USB3.0, HDMI, VGA, Ethernet port and two card readers (SD card, Sony MS) and AC-in for adaptor. It has a connection for connecting external battery with it on the bottom alongside with docking station and its usual with mostly Sony Vaio notebooks these days. Overall Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has all the necessary options.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E has 49 watts Lithium-ion battery of 6 Cell which manages to keep it running for about 370 minutes which is a good thing for any notebook to lasts for 6+ hours on battery. We runs all the task for example, MS-Office work, Text editing, Typing while listening audio songs, HD movie, some gaming, Photo editing, surfing web via Wifi etc. to get the most realistic results.

Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E is a good notebook, good because of display, touchpad and the connectivity options and battery life of 370 minutes but it has some cons as well like average level keyboard and speakers and its runs loudly and high temperatures so it is not a bad notebook as its performs really good in BenchMarks and that performance is the only thing that help it to get 4/5 scores otherwise it will get only 3.5/5 scores and the poor keyboard and speakers stops me to give it silver award as well. If I had to buy a notebook for performance than I would prefer ASUS notebooks but if you are looking for a good performer stylish notebook than Sony Vaio SV-S1511X9E is not a bad choice.
